It was interesting to read an article recently which talked about a survey conducted in London. Research showed that one in every third user had either experienced a condom rip off or split. This can end up in complete disaster since it can result in unwanted pregnancy and a lot more other complications. The survey read that most of the 500 people questioned during the study were not too comfortable talking about this incidence because of embarrassment. The most common reason for condom rip off or split was that most people were using a condom size that was not right and were completely oblivious of this. In fact when questioned about whether they knew that condoms are sold in several different sizes, most said that they were completely unaware.
In addition to informing people about the use of a condom each time, condom companies also need to emphasize during advertisements that just like there is no fit all shirt, T-shirt or trouser there is obviously no such thing as a 'fit all' condom. People come in different shapes and sizes and should make an effort to find their right size when it comes to a condom. The entire purpose otherwise gets defeated. The survey also said that the NHS in the United Kingdom distributes free condoms but does not emphasize to people to pick their correct size of condom. Use of a condom is publicized and emphasized across the world but in addition, a little fine tuning needs to be done since half baked information usually achieves only half baked results. |
