You've been dating pretty exclusively for a while. It's been great! You met through an online dating service. You exchanged a few emails, got to chat a few times online. When you went on your first date, she blew you away. She was even prettier than her online profile's image! She was hot!
Whoa, hold your horses! Before you start proposing, Think about your date and ask yourself a few questions. First, is your date's face the one that you would want to see every morning, first thing when you wake up for the rest of her life?
Picture your date older maybe stouter and gray haired. Would you want her to be your permanent date still? If you say no to this question, forget giving your date the ring.
Next, how does she get along with your folks? There's a reason why you don't just bring your dates to meet mother. Your dates are all being weighed, scanned and judged, to see if they are worthy of dating you.
They love you and having raised you, they usually know you pretty well. They will look at your date as a possible daughter. You can bet that if you are reluctant for your date to meet your parents that this date isn't the one.
Lastly, think about the things that are important to you. Does your date feel that those same things are important too? For example, does your date object to your hanging out with the boys, grabbing a few beers without her? You're probable going, no big deal.
Truth is your friendships are very important. Dating is fun but you also need time to be an individual. Does she refuse to let you off the leash? Dating the right girl won't try to turn you into a dog. |
