Lessons From Cheers: What We Can Learn From Frasier

Author: Mike Wendland
Do you know people like Frasier?

People who are 'Too Intellectual' to buy into this God stuff?

See, the bottom line is, you can't prove that God exists in a scientific laboratory.

Nor can you prove that there is a still small silent voice inside you that keeps shouting that there has to be more to life than just life, which begins and...ends.

You can't prove each of us has a conscience. An innate sense of right and wrong.

You can't prove there is such a thing as love.

But to think that all this...the universe..our world..our bodies...happened by chance? Give me a break. You don't need to be a genius like Frasier to see God;s hand in all this.

If gravity was one iota less than it is everything here would implode. If it was one iota more, it would explode. If earth was 50 miles closer to the sun, everything would burn up. Fifty miles further away we'd all freeze to death.

I believe the truth of God is in all of us. And I think this was best explained by the guy who invented the first computer.

Believe it or not, he lived in the late 1600's. His name was Pascal and he was one of the most brilliant scientists of the seventeenth century. A mathematician and a physicist, he invented the calculating machine - the prototype of the computer. He was a very wealthy Frenchman and he came up with the theory they call the 'God Hole' theory.

Pascal devoted years to the study of human nature. And what he discovered was there is something in each and every human being - a hole in the heart, if you will - that drives humans to search for meaning.

Pascal said if we deny God, humans live in a spiritual vacuum. To try and fill it, they do one of two things. The first is they make gods out of themselves. They become...Frasiers.

It's intellectual pride. We just refuse to admit that there is a greater force than ourselves.

And that's the tragedy of a Frasier.
