| Author: Vacation Man |
If you have never had the opportunity to fly across the ocean then I both feel sorry for you and I envy you. I love traveling and taking vacations, especially when it means going to someplace that is really far away, but the flight is a real killer. I don't know about you but there is only so much that I can really think about doing on a flight that lasts 6 or more hours. Sure they have movies and the shopping catalogs and airplane instructions in the seatback in front of you but will this be enough to keep you occupied as you are traveling so long? Here are a few things that I do in order to combat airline boredom.
1. I always carry my own reading material. I know that there are so many different periodicals that I get in the mail and I am never able to keep up on them. Sometimes I am not even up to opening them, they simply go into the pile for things that I'm going to do someday. Well when you are taking a long flight it is a great time to catch up on your reading, just take them along in your carryon luggage.
2. Play a game. If you enjoy playing games then you would probably enjoy having something like a Gameboy along with you on the trip. I know that this is good for me for at least a couple of hours, maybe more if I break the playing time up over several periods. You can also bring a game like boggle, or something that is contained if you are traveling with someone that also suffers from airline boredom.
3. Write a letter. If you are anything like me you are always wanting to write letters to people but don't have the time to do it. Sitting on the plane you will have all the time that you need to write those notes that you have been putting off for so long.
4. Make a list - Think of things that need done and make them out into lists. Take the down time that you have while sitting on the flight and get more organized.
These are just a few things that will help the time to pass more quickly on a long flight. I hope that it helps you to get where you are going feeling a bit more refreshed. |
